Introduction to Family History
My interest in family history began when my father was approaching his 80th birthday. I knew very little about his family, including the names of his grandparents, where his parents were born, and what their lives were like.
Gathering Information
I started my research by asking my father's remaining sister and his brother's wife about their stories, photographs, and knowledge of our family's history. They were able to provide names for the people in our family photos and share stories about our ancestors.
The Story of Vivian Archer Jackson
My father's middle name, Archer, has a fascinating story behind it. His father, my grandfather, was a batman to Officer Vivian Archer Jackson during World War I and decided to name my father after him. This personal connection adds a rich layer to our family history.
Preserving Memories
Through this journey, I have been able to preserve memories and gain insight into my family's past. I have learned about the importance of names and how they can be passed down or inspired by significant people in our lives.
Family Name Origins
I am also interested in exploring the origins of our family name and how it has evolved over time.
